Utility and Smart Meters

Power Integrations offers a broad range of highly integrated, high-voltage ICs for power supplies for meter and automatic meter reading (ARM). Each IC includes a high voltage power MOSFET, combined with control and protection circuitry, in a single chip.

Features include:

  • Current limiting and thermal shutdown with automatic fault recovery capability to improve reliability
  • Frequency jittering to reduce EMI
  • EcoSmart™ technology to maximize efficiency over load change

For utility meters that require a 1.9 safety factor versus line voltage, Power Integrations has three product families with 900 V MOSFETs to work safely up to 450 VAC input:

  • InnoSwitch3-EP has an integrated synchronous rectification controller to maximize efficiency. It is ideal for power supplies for AMR that require more than 10 W power
  • LinkSwitch-XT2 offers the lowest component count switcher solution for isolated and non-isolated low power applications up to 10 W
  • LinkSwitch-TN2 provides an energy efficient, low power off-line switcher solution for non-isolated buck converters

Industrial Controls

Motor Controls

Power Integrations offers a broad range of highly integrated, high-voltage ICs for auxiliary power supplies for motor control and small DC motor drives. Each IC includes a ≥700 V power MOSFET combined with control and protection circuitry on a single chip. Features include current limiting and thermal shutdown with automatic fault recovery capability to improve reliability, frequency jittering to reduce EMI, and EcoSmart™ technology to dramatically reduce standby energy waste
