Powering a Greener World
Sustainability at Power Integrations starts with our products. Our integrated circuits reduce electricity waste in electronic products, delivering meaningful reductions in carbon emissions. Our gate drivers are critical components in renewable energy, electric transportation and efficient long-distance transmission of electricity. We reduce e-waste by eliminating billions of electronic components each year through integration.
We have made sustainability an integral part of our culture and operations, using renewable energy in our facilities, designing products with low-impact materials and working with manufacturing partners holding environmental certifications.

A Solution for Standby Power Waste
Dozens of devices, such as appliances, computers, networking equipment, and smart speakers, consume power even when not in use. Products in an average U.S. home consume $165 worth of electricity per year in standby or other idle conditions.
Our EcoSmart technology offers an innovative solution. Beyond delivering the voltage and current needed to run the product, EcoSmart chips act as a brain for the power supply to intelligently managing the flow of power and maintain high efficiency — even at light loads.

Next-Level Efficiency with PowiGaN Technology
Power Integrations was the first semiconductor company to begin high-volume shipments of high-voltage power-conversion chips featuring gallium-nitride (GaN) transistors in 2019.
Our proprietary PowiGaN technology significantly boosts active-mode efficiency compared to silicon transistors, saving energy and reducing heat. In many applications this eliminates the need for metal heatsinks, saving raw materials and reducing the shipping weight of electronic products.

Reducing E-waste and Energy Use Through Integration
Our unmatched level of integration drastically reduces the number of electronic components used in power supplies. Each of our ICs eliminates numerous components, such as resistors, diodes, transistors and capacitors, compared to alternative designs. Each of our gate drivers can easily eliminate hundreds of components.
With nearly two billion ICs and more than a million gate drivers shipped annually, Power Integrations products are eliminating billions of electronics components each year — conserving raw materials and the energy used to manufacture these components and reducing e-waste.

Industry Standards and Research Advancement
Power Integrations works closely with policymakers and energy-efficiency advocates around the world. We actively support the work of standards bodies, including the U.S. ENERGY STAR program, the California Energy Commission, the European Commission, and Natural Resources Canada. Our Green Room blog series and regulation listing provides a comprehensive guide to worldwide energy-efficiency standards.
We also support academic research in the field of energy efficiency by contributing funds for efficiency research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and for an endowed research position in energy efficiency at the University of California, Davis.
